Multi-Conveyor recently partnered with an industry leading OEM where their new palletizers needed sealed cases to be presented either horizontally or upright based on layer requirements. The case dimensions and a limited footprint ruled out an ordinary starwheel upender so Multi-Conveyor's engineers creatively designed this innovative, cost-effective box flipper that is able to selectively rotate individual products on the fly. This creative approach allows the control system to engage the flipper arm as needed to accommodate the rotation along the pitch axis while allowing other products to pass through. When the case flipper is disengaged, the sealed boxes will continue down the line without rotation as shown in the video. The operator can then manually move or adjust the flipper arm back stop into and out of position during product change-over. Stainless steel flat bar guiderail brackets with ratchet handles were incorporated to easily adjust varying product widths outside of a safety guarding structure.
